Ocean Pool Pendants' Workshop

Step into a little moment of shoreline magic. In this calming, hands‑on workshop, you’ll create your own Ocean Pool Pendant — a tiny world of sand, sea colours, and shimmering depth, shaped entirely from polymer clay. 

Polymer clay is a wonderfully soft, colourful material that bakes hard in a standard home oven — no kiln or specialist equipment needed. It’s flexible, forgiving, and surprisingly easy to work with, making it perfect for beginners. 

With gentle guidance, you’ll build your miniature “pool” using simple layered techniques, sparkling water effects, and a choice of shells, fossils, or playful sea‑creature details. Every piece is unique, and you can choose to finish yours as either a pendant or a brooch.

We’ll move at a relaxed pace, with natural pauses for waffles, tea, and conversation while your work cures. No experience needed — just curiosity, a bit of patience, and a willingness to explore something new with your hands. 

During this workshop you’ll explore a range of simple but beautifully effective techniques — including some more technical methods that create depth, movement and shimmering ocean detail:

• Conditioning clay — softening and preparing it so it’s easy to blend and shape

• Jelly roll techniques — using ink dyed translucent clay and metal foils to build swirling layers of colour for beautiful ocean depth

• Layering techniques — forming sand textures, shoreline details and gentle transitions

• Push‑mould technique — using simple moulds to create clean, detailed shapes with ease

• Sculpting — shaping tiny forms and details with simple, gentle hand techniques

• Decorative Effects — shells, fossils, Sealife, sand...

• Curing (baking) — hardening your piece safely and effectively

• Finishing — smoothing edges and adding a professional shine

• Turning your piece into jewellery — choosing between a pendant or brooch finish
